Project Overview: For their 50th anniversary, Sandy Springs Pediatrics relocated offices to reflect their look to match the level of excellent care they provide. The new office is located in the heart of Sandy Springs and is more convenient for patients as it is located on the first-floor and offers free parking. After meeting with the client to determine their workflow and office needs, LeVino Jones incorporated a “sophisticated treehouse” design which delights children and families and increases efficiency for patient flow and staff productivity. The space ensures a positive, healing environment with shades of blue and green and artwork featuring nature scenes. The 16 exam rooms have custom millwork that was thoughtfully designed to meet the physician’s needs for examining patients. Patient safety is a priority to Sandy Springs Pediatrics and to Levino Jones. Cabinets are secured with lockable magnets and a built-in step stool pulls out for children to reach the exam counter.
The space features tree canopy soffits and flooring changes that mimic the ceiling to provide wayfinding to major areas within the space. Barn doors were used at every exam room to save 9 square feet within each room and create a clean, uniform look down the hallway. Overall, the design focused on low maintenance finishes, infection control, patient and staff flow and creating a positive atmosphere for children and their parents.

LeVino Jones teamed up with Zanardo Architects to completely refresh the existing Labor/Delivery/Recovery and Mother/Baby rooms. Work was also done in the Waiting Area and Staff Lounge. The desire was for an “upgrade hotel” appearance in the patient care rooms. With input from the nursing and medical staff, the first impression of the rooms is now that of a beautiful hotel room, including vessel-style sinks, inspiring scenes from nature, rich wood finishes, and dimmable lighting. When needed, the rooms can be transformed into fully operational delivery and infant care rooms simply by lifting up artwork to expose the support systems commonly found in those rooms, hidden by wood-looking, durable enclosures. The sofa can also be changed into a bed for visiting spouses or family members. Two rooms were done first as “mock-up” rooms so that components could be evaluated and still allow the Center to function. Over the next few months, the entire Women’s Center will be renovated, including the Nurse Stations, Doctor Sleep Rooms, and Support Areas to transform the Women’s Center into a new, fresh, updated unit.
Scope of Work:
Finish Selection & Specifications, Lighting Selection, Millwork Coordination, Furniture and Accessories Selection and Specifications, Artwork Selection and Specifications, Design Administration
Medical University of South Carolina
The client’s interest to create a new 5,323 square foot Center of Excellence for treating cancers of the head and neck in a large teaching hospital. We were directed to design a contemporary, private, clean, and extraordinary medical unit.
During the design process, LeVino Jones staff was allowed to be present during a patient visit in order to get a better understanding of the examination & scoping process. As a result, custom millwork to house equipment and supplies was designed and presented in a full-scale mock-up that was fastened to a wall for physician feedback. The final product was a result of the initial visit, the mock-up review, and comments back on the mock up.
Scope: Space planning, finish selection and specification, specialty millwork design, specialty lighting design, furniture specifications, and construction administration.
